Family-run since 2014

A Geelong family looking after Geelong families

We are a registered Support at Home provider owned and run by the people you will actually deal with. No head office in another state, no call centre — just a local team that knows the area because we live in it.

Our story

Built for our own parents, then for yours

Real Caring was started in 2014 by Harvey and Bridget, two Torquay locals. Harvey came from teaching and sport, Bridget from nursing — and both of their parents wanted to stay in their own homes as they aged.

It began at the kitchen table, juggling accounts, paperwork and client calls day and night. In July 2024 the business took on its own name. “Real Caring” was chosen to say who we are and what we promise — and to hold us to care that is genuinely real.

Today we are a registered Support at Home provider. Our admin team works from home and our care staff are out on the road across Greater Geelong, the Bellarine, the Surf Coast and the Golden Plains. It is still family-run.

Our Care Partners

The people who plan your care

Our Care Partners come from clinical backgrounds — Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and community services professionals. They bring real experience, and a genuinely kind approach.

They also come to you. We meet you face to face in your own home, so you feel comfortable, heard and supported. Great care starts with a real connection: you get to know us, and we get to know you.

Our care workers

The people who come to your door

Care workers are the ones you actually see — in the morning, at the shops, on the days that are harder than others. One of our clients, Margaret, was supported at home for seven years by four care workers who came to know her well. That is the kind of relationship we hire for.

  • Checked before they start

Police checks and qualification verification for everyone, without exception.

  • Trained and kept training

Ongoing training and development, with regular internal audits of how we work.

  • Chosen for who they are

Hired against our seven values, not just a résumé — people we would trust with our own parents.

  • Here for the long run

Eliza joined as a care worker and is now our Executive Manager, ten years on.

What we stand for

Seven values. They decide who we hire, how we talk to you, and what we do when something goes wrong.

Compassion
Making sure older people feel understood, valued and supported — and that somebody has actually listened.
Dignity
Respecting your autonomy, your privacy and your preferences, so you keep your sense of identity and self-worth.
Excellence
Delivering service quality and standards of care, safety and accountability that hold up for you and your family.
Innovation
Using better tools and practices to make care more reliable — rosters, care plans and payroll that get it right.
Collaboration
Building your care plan with you, your family, your carers, health professionals and community organisations.
Integrity
Operating with honesty and transparency in everything, so you can trust what we tell you and what we charge.
Empowerment
Giving you the support, information and choices to make your own decisions and live life on your own terms.

Where we work

We are a local service, not a national network with a Geelong branch. Our care staff are on the road across four regions.

  • Greater Geelong
  • The Bellarine Peninsula
  • The Surf Coast
  • The Golden Plains

Including Armstrong Creek, Geelong Central, Geelong West, Newtown, East Geelong, Belmont, Highton, Grovedale and 21 more suburbs.
